Air filter access and coil wiring

Was thinking about doing and airfilter service, referred to the Haynes manual illustration and looks like the back section comes off to give access, but No, you can see the filter but not remove it.
It "appears" that one must first remove the carbs then remove the airbox to be able to split it in half to access the filter? Ugh!
Secondly, when I removed the coils to adjust the valve's I didn't pay close attention to which lead went to which terminal on each coil.
Both coils have a green terminal and a black terminal.
The wires on the right side are green with red stripe and solid red. On the left side are black with white stripe and solid red.to which terminals do the wires attach.

The air cleaner.
Remove the side cover.
The filter pushes into a slot.
You will have to pull the electrical components that have the rubber holders and slide on to keep them in olace...they can be a pain to remove if the haven't been removed for a long time.
One you have em pulled ..hook your finger on the filter and it pulls straight out..I don't remember where the notch cut out is on the filter but it seems like it was on the right side and the lower half.
The filter is reusable...clean and re oil

Thanks, funny thing, was just perusing the FB EN500 page and guy had coolant bottle question with photo that showed the wires on the right coil swapped from what you show.
I'll go with your shot.
PO installed a K&N filter
Looks like it's still the slide in flat style...if this is it..the hangup is the electrical components that need to be pulled toward you..the rubber sticks to the flat peg pretty good
