I have a 2997 Classic.
When I take the outer cover off of the air cleaner, the element looks fairly clean but when I take the element out the other side closest to the injecters is dirty!
I have been riding since 1956 and have owned plenty of motorcycles and the air cleaner has always been dirty on the OUTSIDE!
What am I missing here? Why would the element not be dirty on the outside?

The air enters from behind the box in between the 2 cylinders, going through the back side of the filter, doing a 180* past the cover and into the throttle body.

Yes, in a feat of engineering Kawi said, where is the hottest place we can point this snorkel so we can draw in some good hot air...... Right between the two cylinders. They succeeded. Its all good though, cause I get real happy when I get 20% power increases from bolt on mods!
