Hi All,

I recently bought a '96 Vulcan and I am running into some trouble. At the moment the bike doesn't want to idle unless in full choke, once I begin to close the choke she stalls. Also anytime I give her some throttle she cuts out.

The bike sat for some time, I would guess about a year. I replaced the gas, replaced the spark plugs and added oil.

This is my first bike and I am trying to eliminate possible problems but wanted to get some advice. I am thinking it might have an air flow problem but not sure.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Newbie

It sounds like the carbs are gummed up on the low velocity jets which is the main one to get this problem. You can get a can of Seafoam and run it through the system, may take a few tanks or you can take the carbs off and clean them out properly.

Thanks,
I've already went the carb route, used a can of sea foam and cleaned the carbs, guess it can hurt to use more.

I took the air filter out and the thing almost disintegrated in my hand so I'm replacing that also.

I'll use some more deadpan and go from there.

Thanks for the suggestions
