I am in the middle of some modifications to my EN500a. I have removed the PAIR valve and hose assembly and installed block off plates. I removed the airbox and air filter and I have ordered 2 EMGO tapered clamp-on filters. I did a quick tear-down and rebuild of the carbs. When I took it for a test drive it starts and idles fine and with coasting throttle it runs good. When I "get on it" it bogs down. Is this expected behavior when running without the airbox or filters? Will I have to rejet once I put the tapered filters on? if so what should I use?

You need to shim the needles & go up a couple of numbers on the Main Jet..Probably a #130 is a good starting point.Remember that the mid-range is controlled by the needle & Wide open is controlled by the MJ. :)

Well that gives me a pretty good starting point anyways. Thanks. Just wondering if anyone else is running the same setup as I am? Hoping to save some time with the carb tuning. I have stock exhaust with Emgo tapered filters.
