This is my first post i'm not new to riding bikes been riding over 30 years . I currently own an 06 sportster 1200 low . I really like the sporty but everytime i ride it for a longer ride my back and hip kills me for days afterwards . I had a suzuki c-50t before it and liked it .

Heres my question i have a chance to buy a 07 vulcan 900lt classic with 24,000 miles for $4900 . That seems like alot of miles for 2 year old bike but its clean and runs great is this a decent deal ? And how does it compare to my sportster power wise ?

To answer your question, you're talking a 300cc difference. There is a difference, but frankly, it's not something you'd notice normally. The 900 is a strong running midsize engine that i like more and more with each mile i put on it. I also absolutely love the ride of this bike.

Now the real question... WHY is your back and hip killing you? Would it be cheaper to put a different seat and/or add/remove forward controls to alter your riding position? How about the handlebars? Would you be more comfortable with a different reach? If you're happy with the sportster, my guess is you would be getting off cheaper if you changed some accessories.

Personally, i've owned a sportster in the past; i like the ride of my 900 Custom better and am very happy with the engine performance.

I have changed the seat and bars it did'nt help put hiway bars on it too . Did'nt have this problem with the c50 or vstrom i owned before the sporty . As far as power the sportster runs great its alot faster than the c50 i had . I've read the vulcan 900 is just a tad faster than the c50 .

There's probably lots of miles left on that LT if it was maintained well. But if you consider that you could probably pick up an 09 (end of year model) Custom or Classic for around $7K. Is it worth saving $2K for something that your note sure about and doesn't have a warranty. A classic LT probably cost another $1000 to $1200 if you want the bags and windshield.

I read a comparison with the Vulcan 900 and the HD 883 Sportster. The 900 was faster than the 883, but I think the 1200 will have quite a bit more top end power.

The Harley Sportster's and Kawasaki LT's are in two totally different classes.

I've spent time on both the 883 and 1200 Sportsters.

For me, Sportsters are fun bikes but hopefully you aren't going to ride them too far. To me, these are bikes that were designed for running around town, cruising up and down boulevards and what have you....and having a blast while doing it.

The 900LT is more of an open road bike. But it also works pretty well in town.
It's got a lot of power when you twist the grip(one up) but I don't know that it would compare to a 1200 sportster.

The big plus might be less back aches.

great choice.
Hope you like the new ride.

I chose mine over a sportster....mainly it felt bigger and more comfortable

I look forward to hearing your comparisons

sportster

Well comparison wise the sportster was alot faster had more low end top end midrange you name it . The sporty had 77hp when i had it dyno'ed compared to 45 on the 900 thats alot of difference . The 900 is alot bigger the ride is 100% better the sportster stock shocks are horrible almost as bad as my triumph hardtail chopper . Two up the 900 is again 100% better i know i'm gonna like it alot ..
