I just picked up a 2020 Vulcan 1700 and when I was talking to the sales guy at the dealer he was telling me not to use synthetic oil?
I have like two cases of mobil one motorcycle oil 10-40 and now I'm not sure if I should use that?
They told me to get the Kawasaki oil but I wondering if they are looking for a sale?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to the forum from North Carolina. Congratulations on your new ride. Cannot believe how misinformed (or greedy) some dealer personnel are. You can use the oil you have. It is the correct weight motorcycle specific oil for your bike. Oil has been discussed to death on this forum. Do some searches for hours or reading.
Here is the latest thread on oil.

Welcome from Pennsylvania and congratulations on the bike!! Everyone has an opinion on oil and also break ins, I will add my 2 cents whether you like it or not!! I always break in my new bikes somewhat aggressively and change the oil within 250 miles with conventional oil then again by 600 with conventional then the third change I use whatever oil I plan to use by 1200 miles, on my current bikes when I hit 1200ish miles they will be filled with Kawasaki full synthetic oil and I will continue using oem filters. I will still be changing it every 3k miles or once per year if I can't manage that many miles. You can substitute the Kawasaki full synthetic with brand of your choice but I have never heard someone say synthetic is bad for a newer engine, maybe not necessary but definitely not bad.
