Hello, I just recently purchased a Vulcan Nomad 1700. The bike had 977 miles on it when I bought it. It now has over 1000. I looked in the owners manual and it said the break in was 1000 miles so I bought Vance and Hines Twin Slash Round pipes for it. I'm new to Vulcans and want to take care of the bike. Do you all have any advice on how to get the bike to it's optimal performance? In all the research I have done it looks like guys send the ECU out to have it re done and slap some pipes on it and that's about it unless you want to get extravagant. Also, I noticed that the bike gets a little hot around the crotch which is to be expected with that size engine right under you. Any suggestions on how to handle this? I hear the remapping of the ECU helps...I just want to enjoy riding with friends and family. Thanks for your help. Glad to be part of the community.

hello and welcome to the forum. it sounds like your off to a good start with your bike.as for break in mileage I would say you got more to go.I had close to 5000 miles on my vaquero by time it felt like the motor was running smoother. by far the best thing you can do for your bike is to get Ivans refresh done to the ECU. the motor will run cooler,your mileage will go up and the power increase when you roll on the throttle is very noticeable. I also have a K&N drop in air filter that helps a bit also. Ivansperformanceproducts.com

OpieTaylor. Plus one on the Ivan Flash. It really makes a significant difference. Vance and Hines makes a nice set of pipes. Good sound without being obnoxious. The Nomad is a good bike and travels really well.

I have a 2013 Nomad with V&H Twin Slash pipes, Thunder Mfg air intake and ECU flashed by Ivan. Runs so much better than stock. Twist the throttle and she just goes!
