1700 classic is a big air kit that much better than just a kn filter

Ive been wanting to do the big 3 but am unsure which way to go as far as the air. For the pipes I plan on getting the cobra speedsters with smartpartz baffles. The fuel Ive bought the ejk classic tuner. I just dont know if the intake noise is that bad or if with just a kn filter would work well. Any knowledge or responses will be appreciated

I am having the big 3 installed right now (I don't have any sort of workspace right now, so I am having a local shop do it for me). I got the EJK as well and cobra dragsters. The Air kit I went with was the Kuryakyn mach 2. I think you are going to need more air flow than what a K&N will give you. The Stock setup really doesn't allow enough airflow regardless of the filter
That is what i figured as far as the air goes. I was just wondering if the extra 300 would be worth it plus if the noise would he annoying. Cool on the dragsters i was looking at them as well. I dont want too loud of pipes but I want it to come alive when i want them too. Are you going with any aftermarket baffles for them? I was considering the qq monsters but 5hought that they would be louder than I wanted.
You might want to check with Joe at Chucksters Customs. He makes an air kit that breathes much better using the stock covers. Don't hold me to this, but I think around $175 and probable quieter than an open one.
Check out this thread, post 3 in particular. This is with the FP true duals and a K&N stock replacement and Cobra 2000 tuner I believe. If you really need more power, maybe you have the wrong bike. But then again, can you have too much power?

I hadn't really considered getting baffles. I guess I will have to hear how it sounds first and decide from there. I used to have a 2003 Honda shadow 750 that I put some v&h pipes, thunder air kit and larger jets. The sound from that didn't bother me, but it was a much smaller engine too. I hope to see a significant increase in performance on the Vulcan
From what i hear with the dragsters you might lose low end torque. That is another reason i am not going to get them. These bikes are stump pullers! One of its best qualities.
Have you had a chance to try out your bike with all the upgrades yet?
