Hi there,

A friend who works at a mechanic has over ordered on Engine Oil - he has a stack of GN4 10W-30 Oil which he is offloading for half of what I'd normally have to pay. It gets me into trouble sometimes but I love a bargain!
I'm riding a 2008 VN900 custom. My question is should I be using this oil for my Vulcan or "Don't even think about it..."

Any thoughts, experiences etc?

Thanks!!

Vince

oil

One more time, we have kicked this one over...Kawa says 10 w 40 and in some cond. 20 -50...I would think extreme cold would warrant 10-30 look in the spec page in the manual for temp ranges.

10w30 Oil 14 degrees to 86 degrees per my 2007 Owner's manual. To each his own, I've used Kaw 10w40 and Rotella 15w40. Rotella 15w40 kicks ass. Less knocking and ticking and no clutch slip and shutter.

As long as it the SAE oil the kind that isn't energy conserving? The kind that is bad for wet clutches.

You question it, it would be a good winter storage oil to put in. Then drain it out after the early spring rides where you want a lightweight oil.
