I just purchased my 09' 900, and going into the purchase I knew there was what I consider to be a little excess noise coming from the clutch area. I plan on removing both L & R side engine covers to investigate.

Is it common for these bikes to have noise coming from the clutch area ?? The noise is very noticeable upon cold starts. Then it gradually dissipates as the engine warms up.

Is there a good online parts store to buy case gaskets for these bikes, or is it recommended going to the Kaw dealer ??

Having just purchased the bike, I plan to replace the oil and filter, coolant, and plugs before I do anything.

Any advice and suggestions will be appreciated !!

A big "THANK YOU" phipps33 !!

I bookmarked that page for sure !! A lot of good info there !!

I think I'll wait to remove the engine side covers then, and change the oil and do all the other new "used" bike maintenance that I want to do. Then put a few miles on it and see what I think.

Plus I'll make sure the idle is set to factory specs. A cool potato potato sound isn't what I'm looking for with this bike.
