The first issue with my bike has surfaced. When I turn the key to the “ON” position, the instrument cluster lights do not come on. Nor do the running lights.

If I push the key into the cylinder, the cylinder depresses and the lights on the cluster and the running lights light up.

My conclusion is that I need to buy a new ignition assembly. My hope is that there is a less costly fix.

The part number (if I have researched this correctly) is 27005-1209 and it’s about $143. It appears to be an easy fix but I wanted to avoid needing three keys for the bike... AND I’m trying to be economical.

Any help or suggestions regarding this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I have posted a short video of the problem here:

Solution to Ignition Switch Problem

After disassembling and cleaning the switch, the problem remained.

I ended up ordering a new assembly from Treasure Coast Honda/Kawasaki and they knocked a couple of bucks off the price. It totaled $138.

Someone with more mechanical competence than myself might have likely fixed it. But at least the bike is up and running again.
