  1. KVS Dyno results and Suspension Update

    Vulcan 650 S
Interesting, I wouldn't have thought about raising the gearing for that but I can now see how it would work. Thanks!

Performance gains sound like a lot of fun but would you guys say that a Booster Plug provides as much smoothness as a remap, more or less? If it depends whether you're a novice or a speed demon, take the former!
  3. Small side case suggestion

    Vulcan 650 S
Oh and if you're wondering whether such security measures are necessary, they certainly are in the City of London. If only I could chuckle about it. Such a shame...
  4. Small side case suggestion

    Vulcan 650 S
I've been looking at luggage setups lately and I'm leaning towards a rather niche solution for a part of it. So once again this may not be of interest to many of you but it just might be of use to somebody who happens to be in a similar spot sometime. Writing this post was a great distraction...

As a newb I enjoy learning about this stuff a lot. I just spent the last hour looking into those emulators. I hope you enjoy yourself over the weekend!
  6. Replacing the air filter and booster plug install

    Vulcan 650 S
Sure I get it, and that someone definitely wasn't me btw! I was curious whether an alternative workaround is feasible, is all.
  7. Replacing the air filter and booster plug install

    Vulcan 650 S
Thanks for the heads up! I know when I start out with the DIY that I'll be multiplying the time estimates several times over... and then still be lagging. So there's no conceivable way around breaking that clip without more sweat and tears? I'd get weak at the knees at the prospect of snapping...
  8. I was told about an automatic chain oiler today. Thoughts?

    Vulcan 650 S
I'd be interested to hear any testimonials from experienced riders here but I've been avidly following Del at 'Delboy's Garage' (@Moonfleet41) on youtube, an experienced and respected mechanic and lifelong rider. I've thought carefully about what he has to say about this product, which...
  9. Confession corner - mods off the beaten track

    Vulcan 650 S
I've got similar items on my list, with an aftermarket seat also right up there. I hope Mustang can deliver on its rep and save me a couple hundred quid! I wish I could live with the stock look - it's great that many KVS owners happily do - but I'm afraid the rear end on the KVS would've been a...
  10. OEM Soft Top Case installation

    Vulcan 650 S
I could be wrong but from a theory standpoint I'm not sure it's perfectly safe to go that heavy (https://www.vulcanforums.com/threads/solo-luggage-rack-weight-limit.197913/post-2243321). You've got two bolts on the centre taking all the stress of the lean on both sides. Personally, I wouldn't...
  11. Confession corner - mods off the beaten track

    Vulcan 650 S
So here's a crazy mod idea that I stumbled upon a while back that I haven't been able to shake off since: (https://www.s2-concept.com/boutique/partie-cycle-1/supports-de-plaque-specifiques/support-de-plaque-scraper-kawasaki-vulcan-650-detail) There are many mods I'd have to make before...
  12. OEM Soft Top Case installation

    Vulcan 650 S
Thanks. That's clearly how you'd do it for a 2-up arrangement on the bike. A couple of concerns however: (1) An experienced guy here http://motorbikes.blog/2016/09/16/bit-more-work-on-the-vulcan/ notes that the Hepco & Becker sissy bar rack is designed to hold 5kg max. Not much of a problem in...
  13. OEM Soft Top Case installation

    Vulcan 650 S
The oem tail bag looks great and has a decent capacity but I was looking at options for loading a backpack on the rear (for added convenience and even more capacity). I reckon a fender bib would be a good bet, preferably a rubberized one that fits the KVS (if any exist)...
  14. Rear shock update

    Vulcan 650 S
'Affordable' maybe wasn't the right word - it's a big spend no matter how you cut it. I emailed a guy in the UK that does great value shocks (https://www.tecbikeparts.com/) but apparently monoshocks are a bit of a different animal and he can't see himself ever taking them on. Today I looked...
  15. Rear shock update

    Vulcan 650 S
If I recall from this thread, https://www.vulcanforums.com/threads/better-rear-shock.238673/, YSS and Hagon are two non-US options that are affordable (as far as shocks go - around 300GBP) and with damping adjustment. Are the jitters about spending your money on an 'unknown quantity'? From what...

    Vulcan 650 S
Hi and congrats on your new ride. From what I gather feathering a motorcycle clutch is the recommended and intended way to use it at slow speeds. Not only is it safe for the mechanism (unlike with dry car transmissions) but it's also necessary for smooth slow speed control. I'm sure I've read...
  17. Rim decals

    Vulcan 650 S
Hi, I too like the look of rimstripes on the KVS. I don't have first-hand experience but I know something about vinyl decals. Stickman say they only use quality vinyls (3M and Oracal in their case) and so I should think their rimstripes would last for a bare minimum of 2-3 years, but may well...
  18. The electric future of cruiser motorcycles + poll

    Vulcan 650 S
I too wonder the same thing lol. They'll get it right one day when everybody's riding electric Harleys - even cruiser fans :p. Mark my words, peeps!

Haha, I like your style! All the best.
  20. New 2020 Vulcan S

    Vulcan 650 S
I liked the 2019 'covert' green which has gone but I think the new 'Spark' colours are pretty cool. Me, I'm a sucker for the 'Flat' black which remains. I'm already thinking about decals lol. Edit: that would be for the Europe market...
