Colour matching a new helmet.

Hey folks,

Just bought a new helmet last night and I am wanting to paint it to match my black/graphite/red pinstriped 2014 900 Classic. Leaning toward Color-rite although I'm not diggin the price and I've read that some paint solvents will damage/soften the helmet shell. Safe to assume Color-rite paint won't harm the helmet? Mine is a Bilt, all black. I'm planning on adding the metallic graphite/red pinstripe then clearing the whole helmet.

Has anyone used Color-rite paint on a helmet before?

Thanks and good riding to you,

Would recommend you just email the folks at Color-rite and see if they have any experience with their products being used on helmets.

Let me know what you come up with. I have a half helmet sitting around that's grey and I would like to paint it a different color so maybe I'd actually wear it once in a while. I usually ride with my FF helmet.

Seeing how the helmet wont be in direct contact, hopefully, with any part of the bike, a very close match may work. In this case some paint supply shop should be able to mix up a water based color that will be safe for the helmet. Many of the current water based paints are pretty durable.
