Headlight issue

I recently bought a 97 750. The previous owner hard wired the headlight to the battery with a toggle switch for it to work. I reconnected the original wiring bit no pwer to the headlight with the bike running. The switch on the handle bars and dash light seem to be working. I also checked the fuse and it's good. Can anyone help me figure this out

Could be the relay module under the left side cover. It's a sealed unit.

I had a 1995 vulcan 750 that dropped all the lights on my way to work at 5:45 AM. Scariest ride ever. My battery had broken down and leaked acid all over the fuse box which caused a huge headache. Got it all cleaned up and new terminals and she was as good as new.

Codyk93: Did you check the relay unit as Wayne suggested? This is about the only thing I could think of, too since you said the actual switch works.

Xena: What in the world could make your battery break open?
