New(ish) rider with new to me VN900, Orem, Utah

Hi all! I started riding a little over a year ago. I always wanted a motorcycle when I was a kid, so soon after I This bike is my first, I'm not 100% since I don't know a lot about bikes yet, but it's a 2012 Vulcan 900 Classic (SE?). I got it with 21k miles which I've heard is a lot, but it runs like a champ. The only issues I've had were the shifter linkage rod snapping when I first got it and running over a nail. So far, I've been able to figure out all the work I've needed to do on it myself, but I don't have an owners manual or a lot of tools yet. This site has helped me understand a little more about my bike, so I figured it'd be worth it to join the community. Any tips, tricks, or advice are welcome!

Welcome Aloveridge.
Hope you enjoy your 900. 21k isn't many miles, it's about the same as my own 2012 Vulcan. Most modern motorcycle engines can go well over 100k some over 200k so your's is barely run in!

Thanks for the advice! I feel like I've been missing certain maintenance jobs so I'll check that out for sure

Hey ALoveridge, beautiful bike and it looks like you'll be riding in a great area looking at the background in those pictures.

Enjoy!
