Completely lost due to incompetence.

Hello, I think there is a leak from the gasket where the shifter enters the trans. Im leary of messing with the shift arms basically because I dont know what Im doing. Is scratching marks to line it back up an acceptable method?
My local library has Kawi repair manuals but not for this model 03 800, is there another model I can use?
Advice is appreciated.
