Rear Shock replacement

I was wondering if anybody can tell me the length of the stock mono-shock. The rear shock on my '98 classic is not stock. It has an 'eye' at the bottom and not a 'fork'. This is because it has a lowering bracket on the suspension arm that was made to take an 'eye'. I am looking for a replacement with the same dimensions that will fit in the space, as I wish to keep the lowering kit. I also think it will be a lot cheaper to find a replacement. If anyone could suggest a shock that would do the job for the 540 lbs weight. I would like to get a replacement before I remove the old shock, which is why I am asking here. I cant measure it properly with it on the bike!
