tight spot in steering

hey all i have an 97 vn800 classic and recently ive noticed a tight spot in my steering. from center position if i turn my bars left or right there is a tight spot then it moves freely. doesnt seem to be a problem at higher speeds but definitely a little twitchy at slow speeds. any suggestions as to where i should start looking. thanks

I'm certainly no mechanic or expert, but I would look first at the bearings in the headstock. It only stands to reason that since the most wear to the races will occur when the wheel is in the center position, that point is where wear will show up first. That situation could very easily create the problem you are experiencing.
