battery tender wire location

'05 800 I was looking around in my saved parts drawer and found a wire that's new and has 2 battery post connector leads on it, I think it's for my battery tender, so I'm wondering if I should install the wire to battery on my bike for periodic charging up, but where should the end come out? left side or right side? what's a good spot

When I had my 800, I ran it to the left side, under the front of the seat. My only reason for it, was I parked it in the left stall in a 2-door garage, so all the outlets were on my left.

My motorcycle mechanic installed the tender lead on my bike, also an 05 800. He zip-tied it to the frame on the left side, towards the back. Hidden from everyday sight but easy enough to get to. I leave it on the charger all winter, and it's never failed me (knock on wood).

On my Vaquero, I installed the heated glove lead and ran it to the left side of the seat, and loop the extra over the front of the seat. It has a battery tender adapter I got for it, which also works great.

Both bikes are under covers when not in use.

Left side between strut and fender, tuck under the strut where it gets wider just by the back of the front seat.

the lead fits between the seat and that chrome side piece? I looked at that and it's a snug fit for the lead end to fit between the back of the front seat and the chrome below it, or should I have the lead hang out there a bit about 2" or so for easy access

I'd like to put the tail end of the tender lead zip tied to the frame on the left side right where the pull choke is, but can't put it there, so I'm thinking of putting it exact place but on the right side, will that work?

Anywhere you can get to it but where it'll stay somewhat protected, should be fine.

I see a lot of the pigtails sticking out of side covers on bikes.

side covers, another option is to put the pigtail inside the keyed right side cover, I was thinking of putting it in the left side cover but the ignition coil and lots of wires in there, so wondering about the right side, the only thing I don't like is the key lock portion is difficult to get off the right side cover latch, maybe if I smoke lots of WD40 to the key mechanism

Don't use WD40. It can gum it up in the long run. Go to Walmart and get a tube of graphite and put it in the lock.
