Head work vn800

I have a 98 800b and I was wondering if anyone has ever had , done , or ever thought of working over the heads with a good port job as well as shaving the head down for more compression and bigger valves for better flow other than better cam shafts I have already done every thing I can to get more scoot outta this bike and it's not quite where I want it to be in regards to power. Are these things possible to do or is it just a wild day dream?
