Rifle Windshield

Question for those who have a Rifle windshield. I just received one a few days ago for my Vaquero. It's a 16" dark tinted. On the instructions it talks about a new foam gasket. All that is in the box that I received in the box is a windshield. Anyone receive anything besides the shield in their box?

Thanks

Chris

Well the current aftermarket shield on there had no foam gasket so I just put the rifle on. It's definitely taller than I'm use to considering the short shield on the vaq is the only shield I've ever used. I did the measuring and the shield lines up with the tip of my nose. I feel a little uneasy having something just under my line of sight. I assume there's an adjustment period for everyone. It's just...strange. The wind hits about an inch below the top of my helmet so it's probably the shortest I could go. I do really enjoy the improvement of buffeting though. Also I wasn't wild about the bigger shield look wise but I actually like it. Anyone have experiences to share on adjusting to a shield?

I don't know why but it only lets me attach one picture from my phone.

It looks great, but that's one dark-A$$ shield! I hope you can easily see over it at night or in the rain.

Yeah, I'm 6'4" and can definitely see over it. But it might be a little too dark. I can see the ground about 15 feet in front of the bike looking over the shield sitting normally. I can seen over it like it isn't there if I strain upward. One of the sites that sold shields said you should be able to see straight over the top 50' in front of the bike. I have that easily cleared but... I don't know. This is the first shield purchase and I think its going to take some getting use to.

If you can see the ground 15' in front of the bike you should have no issues. You shouldn't be looking any closer than the 50' when riding anyway. The only potential issue would be when cresting a steep hill. If you decide you want shorter, I'd be willing to trade my 14" for it.

I'll keep it in mind. I appreciate your help when I was shopping for one and chose the 16" based on our conversation. I think I just need to get used to it. I think if I had a 14" I would experience buffeting as the wind hits pretty well about an inch below the top of my helmet. I almost think 15" would be perfect but I'm going to give it some time before deciding what to do. I do wish I would have known that it wasnt going to be quite as wide as my previous shield. There's a little room on each side that you can see the dash behind. I'm not a big fan of that.
