2012 Voyager kams system

Took my 2010 to dealer to get oil leak fixed and he has a 2012 left over that he is going to make me a killer deal on. The only reason I would trade is for the Kams system. Anyone know if it makes that much diff ?

Won't make the bike run cooler, but will help to keep the heat off of you. Another good reason to trade for later model is that later ones have smoother, quieter shift from 1st to second. My '09 Voyager sounds like the gears are going to fall out the bottom! Have heard that later models have this corrected.

My 2010 sounds the same way CLUNK! He is willing to let me take the 2000 dollars worth of extras off my bike and put them on the 2012 and still trade me for not much difference. Now all I have to do is convince the wife lol.

New Kawi Rider,
Where you trading at and what did thay about the oil leak still have to do the mods on the 12 that you did on the 11 but you know that the kams people say it helps keep the heat off the rider. good luck and Im all form getting a new bike for a good peice. And better when it makes the rider more comfortable ggood luck and let me know have to put mine back in shop for the cruise control and switch aboue it going out also. As much trouble as I'v had with this Vaquero Maybe I should trade. Been eyen that 1300 v star tourer delux from yamaha had a 1900 yamaha raider before the vaquero and loved it yamaha has great fit and finish on their bikes. Good talken to you keep me informed on what you do Shad thanks B Cope. PS if I get the bike back and weather is good I"LL try to ride up this weekend sound go to you I wil call first ok.

Only a motorcycle rider knows why a dog sticks he head out the car window. Enjoy life.

I can't comment on the difference because I haven't ridden a Voyager without the KAMS.

I can tell you that MY 2012 Voyager with the KAMS was about as hot on my legs as my 900 in summer temps.

That means it gets a little hot. Waiting for a long red light or heaven forbid a train, will be VERY unpleasant in summer temps.
Even at slow speeds you can move you foot to the side of the board and the wind will keep your leg reasonably comfortable.

The 'hair dryer' keeps the jewels from burning up and the wife says that it doesn't dump hot air on her either.

When I installed my pipes 2 weeks ago, I wrapped my headers with 15' of exhaust wrap and riding in the 80s I don't feel ANY heat.

As you know; SOME of these bikes DO run hot beyond just our perception.
Mine, ran just past the last white mark and had a warm engine 'tic' until about 2k miles.
Changing to synthetic stopped the 'tic'; I have flushed the coolant and use a 70/30 mix and installed tri-ovals & a PCV.
So, far my gauge hasn't read past the 'fan-on' position this year.

All things being equal, the KAMS is nice. Re-starting your odo and warranty will be nice too.

I think it would be a hard decision.

I rode without the KAMS until last summer, and it made a HUGE difference for me. Yes, the engine puts out heat but it is no longer directed on my left ankle. Any big V-twin will put out heat on a summer day waiting on a traffic light, but it is much better managed with the KAMS.

I own a '10 and took a nice ride on a '12. The KAMS does keep the heat off the rider. I haven't seen a color I like better than my metallic imperial red / diablo black bike.

New kawi rider, this is a chance to trade off that California model you have too! Bet you look under this one before you buy, no surprises this time. Are you moving your Commander II's to the new bike too?

I have the 2012 and I get a little heat in stop and go traffic on really hot days. Not bad at all though. I've never been on a VV without the KAMS so I'm afraid I can't give you a comparison.
