Get back whip too heavy?

I recently made a get back whip for my 2014 Vaquero. Today was the first day that I have rode with it on. I could not set the cruise control to set. So I pushed out on my brake lever and then was able to set it. It staid set for 20 to 30 seconds and it went back off. I believe it is the lever getting pulled a little. Is there a way to tighten the lever?

Take off The Whip and see if you bike likes it better. Just a suggestion.
