air switch valve

The VN800 has an air switch valve, which allows fresh air, from the air box, to get into exhaust port and burn the unburned gasses. Purpose of this valve is to meet EPA regulations. As a drowback, the temp of the exhausts is higher.

Does the Vaquero 1700 has a valve like the VN800 ? it can be eliminated ? Any pros and cons ?

Thanks

air switch valve

I believe the 1700 vaquero does have the air switch valve, however, it is controled by the bikes ECU or computer and the only way I know of to turn it off is have the ECU reflashed by ivans performance. in addition to turning off the air valve he can do several things to make the bike run cooler, faster, smoother and get better mileage also.

Ivan's reflash is the preferred option to eliminate the switch valve. The only other solution that was widely used before Ivan came along, was to push a marble into the hose running from the 11 o'clock position at the back of the right side airbox. That helped to lessen the exhaust popping, but seldom stopped it entirely.
