Cruise control disabled by low fuel warning?

While riding this past weekend in a new to me area, I ran the Voyager VERY low on fuel. And I noticed the cruise control would not set (attempted several times) but after a fillup (4.9 gallons) cruise works normal. The cruise worked when the low fuel light/warning first came on but roughly 20 miles later it wouldn't engage.

Thing is, I've put over 27K miles on the Voyager and never noticed this before. Anybody else experienced this?

I have never had the low fuel warning affect the cruise control, but I don't think I've ever been 20 miles into the low warning and tried to turn cc on, either. Maybe 10 - 12 miles but not 20.

Yeah this was a new level of bad judgement on my part. I'm starting to think it was just a fluke. I'll be watching the cruise for any more unusual behavior.

Thanks!

Could it be while you were trying to conserve fuel you were riding below 30 mph? Won't work under 30.
