Exhaust modifications more noise Voyager 2012

Has anyone make any modifications to the 2010 Voyager exhaust pipes to make the sound lounder. On other forums for other makes of bikes I have seen things like drilling holes in the back etc

I know I should buy some louder pipes but have just shelled out $20,000 on the bike so looking for more noise cheaply !!

All you need is a hole saw 1 1/4" and an arbor extension from home depot or similar tool supply. drill out two thin metal plates, and you're done. Nice sound, but not too loud even at freeway speeds.

Hey Guys,
I just got a 2014 Voyager. Gonna do the baffle drill out. What a bout a simple air box mod before buying a whole new one?

Advise against the airbox mod unless you can move filter to right side and get it to seal. You will actually loss power by opening the left side. The following thread is kinda long, but very informative. Post 3 explains what I said above.

Thanks Rick. so when drilling through the exhaust I assume I am inserting the hole saw through the and plate until I hit the first internal plate and that I am NOT drilling through the end plate yes? I have seen some baffle removing videos for Vulcans where they drill through the end plate and remove the whole baffle.

Your holesaw should fit inside the pipe, then slide in until you hit the end plate for the baffle, then drill this. There are 2 from the back on each pipe. Go easy on the 2nd one, the converters are next in line. Dont be overly concerned if the plates dont come out, but they may catch on the pilot bit for hole saw, and come right out.

Okay will try today. So I stop at the converters? or is there more that can be done?

If you remove the right muffler, you can drill one more from the motor side. On the left you would have to cut the pipe to get that one, then weld it back together, most dont go that far. You can drill through the converters, but this makes them useless, and bike wont pass an EPA sniffers, if that matters. Cant say how that would sound, I left the converters alone in mine, low rumble that wont wake the neighbors when I come in from work just before midnight.
