Belt Noise

Do all of these bikes have belt noise when coasting? Mine sometimes drives me nuts. I have had it adjusted twice but it has never been quit when coasting.

I've got a 2013 Voyager, I haven't noticed any noise from the belt. At times I will do different riding skills exercises in parking lots as well (some at slow speeds). I've never noticed any noise.

I actually just got my 900 classic back from the shop it was making a rubbing strange sound I could hear when I pushed it in the driveway. Come to find out it was only because the belt became to tight. And on the front sprocket the shaft had no lube at all left on it. Some days you get lucky maybe/hopefully that is all that is wrong with yours?

It's generally agreed that Kaw spec is too tight, and most of us have found that loosening the belt to HD tension (I have mine at around 10mm at 10lb) keeps it quiet, and also prevents issues such as pulley wear, belt damage, and in extreme cases output shaft bearing failure.

Mine makes noise on acceleration after a deceleration. I attribute this to the belt walking from one side to the other.

I purchased a new 2016 Voyager March of this year. Belt noise from the start right off dealer lot. Its sad, but I try to avoid taking my bike to the dealer for anything.....even under warranty. After a few weeks of the howling cat sound I decided to investigate. The drive belt was way too tight and also misaligned from the factory. One side ahead of the index mark, the other was behind. I lined up using the index marks and loosened tension slightly. Most of the noise was gone then. After owning eight GoldWings over many years, this belt noise is hard for me to overcome. Most of the time I can zone it out or turn up the mp3 player. I am going to replace the rear tire soon. I plan on cleaning the belt and sprockets and then spraying dry Teflon on the belt. I'm sure it will make the belt quiet and I"ll see how long this lasts. Overall the Voyager is a great bike, but apparently belt noise is common regardless of manufacturer.
