K53020-405 KQR Backrest Mounting Kit - Incorrectly Assembled at Factory?

Hi guys, I haven't been on the forums here in a long time.

I have a green 2012 Vaquero and I recently installed the Kawasaki K53020-405 KQR Backrest Mounting Kit. The instructions were decent and all was going well until I tried to mate it with the solo luggage rack from Kawasaki. The spool-knobs didn't match in size. The backrest mounting bracket has spool knobs of different sizes (front vs. back), and I thought I was losing my mind at first. I took everything a part and figured that I had to of assembled it all wrong. I tried every conceivable left/right/up/down orientation that was physically possible, but those brackets only mate to the bike frame in one possible way.

I decided that the factory must have mixed up which spool-knob (small vs large) went where. So I moved them and re-installed the brackets, and shazam, all was well. I was dumbfounded that the factory didn't assemble the part correctly, but I guess it does happen from time to time.

Current: 2012 Kawasaki Vaquero (green)
Past Bikes: 2011 Concours 14; 2008 Honda VTX 1300; 2007 Honda Shadow 750C2; 1974 Honda CB360
