Voyager 1700 Saddlebag Lid Covers

Looking for saddlebag covers, I found lots of sources to choose from. They all looked like great products, but none seemed to fit the Voyager 1700.

I contacted a custom leather worker who has made and sold vinyl covers for various bikes in the past. She never made one for the Voyager 1700, but being an adventurist, she is willing to begin producing covers for our saddlebags if the demand warrants it. Selling price would be $150/ pair, plus $15 shipping.

To help her determine if there is enough demand to begin production, I told her I would spread the word to forum members. I have no stake in this product at any level otherwise. I just wanted to buy a set of covers and her products looked good.

If you think you may be interested, check out her website below. Please contact her if you have any questions.

When I asked Nanci how many pre-orders would be needed to begin production, she said would need at least four (4) orders to get started.

I am in line already, so if three,(or more), riders are interested, we can have saddlebag covers by riding season, (unless you happen to live in all-year riding country!).

Since my bike is white, I am planning to go with plain tan covers, but the colors and options are almost unlimited.

I offered to mail in my saddlebag lids for her to use as a template. If someone else lives close to her in Montague, CA and would like to stop by, that would be even better.

Considering the higher price on the chrome plated racks available for our bikes, I think these vinyl covers are a great alternative.

I've been looking for someone who makes covers for my Nomad saddlebags. I'd like to see how your covers turn out. Hopefully you'll post photos after you get them. There are enough of us out there, so I'm sure you will get the 4 you need. Please keep us up to date on how it goes for you.

I'll be glad to post photos after installation, I am imagining them to resemble those shown on her website.

What holds the covers on to the bags?

Keep in mind, these saddlebag covers have not yet been produced. Since they are a new item to the vendor, a minimum of four orders is needed to begin making these, (hint, hint).

However, the vendor has made several of these type covers for Yamahas and those photos are available on the website.

The design calls for J-Hooks to hold the covers in place, no velcro or glue is required, easy on/easy off.

There is a possibility that optional covers can also be made, using only a solid strip down the top center of the saddlebags. Not only would this design be easier to create, it would also reduce costs.

Again, at this point, everything is on the drawing board, nothing has or will be started until the minimum quantity of orders is met.

This is a great chance to offer creative ideas, with quality work and good pricing.

Here is a link to the website which shows the J-Hook and other photos.

Two sets? Now we're talking!

I know the vendor is excited about starting on these and is very open to ideas and suggestions from everyone.

I am willing to ship my lids there for a prototype fit-up for the Voyager, which may take a couple of weeks, at most. (Hopefully, our snow levels will be lower by then).

Afterward, orders should be filled straightaway. From a business point of view, though, at least (4) orders are needed to get the ball rolling...we're 3/4 of the way there.

I was told that just about any color is available, with or without studs, etc.

I emailed Nanci with some questions have, before I commit to an order. I also posted a link to this thread on another Vulcan Forum I belong to, hopefully it will help get the orders needed.
