Rotor Change?

I haven't been happy with the front brakes on my 08 900 Custom (7000 mi) for a while, so I checked and, even though there was still about 25% of the pads left, I changed them. At how many miles, typically, should the rotor be changed? Best source? Thanks!

Change rotor when it is worn to service limit:

Front - 4.5mm.
Rear - 6.0mm.

Thanks for the reminder.

BTW, not sure if anyone else has noticed, but it's a bit unnerving to think that the brake pads are held in place, essentially, by the one small clip that holds the retaining pin in place; without that clip, the pads could work themselves loose or even fall off. I know that it's very unlikely that the clip will fall out, but still, it is a tiny piece of metal that holds the whole thing together...
