So sorry to her this, Brad. I went through a similar situation myself earlier this summer. Guy either blew through a stop sign or just didn't stop long enough... pulls out in front of me into the intersection. I was only doing 25 (if that, maybe 20) and I hit my brakes and laid it down to avoid hitting his car. (This, BTW was NOT on my 900 but my previous 750 bike). Anyway, a few scrapes, some bruised ribs, but all better after a few weeks. I was glad I had all my gear on.
Made me wonder if I did the wrong thing too, in my reaction. In the MSF classes, it is stressed that you always stop in a straight line. Maybe I braked while trying to swerve, therefore tipping the bike down. If I had done just one or the other, braking or swerving, maybe I would not have dropped the bike.
But no matter now... we're glad you're okay and here to tell us about it. Most of my "close ones" have been some nimrod in the next lane swerving towards me while inattentively yapping on the phone. Sheesh! Hope you get your 900 fixed... SOON!
