Batwing Fairing for my classic

I'm looking to purchase the Memphis Shades batwing for my '12 900 Classic se, and with all my searches can't get a clear answer. What I'm wondering is as far as seating position, to what point will the fairing cover with the different size windshields? does anyone have the spoiler style? btw I'm 6'2 so I'm already leaning towards the 12" but any feedback would help, or if anyone have pictures of themselves on the bike with the fairing that would be cool as well. thanks!

I hate to say this, but avoid the batwing. I had one and the buffeting was awful. I traded mine for a windshield and I wouldn't go back.

With that being said, taller shield will be better. I would get the fairing, and measure to your eye level. That's the size shield you should get.

I grabbed a fistful of throttle and all my worries disappeared.

You have 4 inches on me. I have the MS Batwing and got the 12" shield. It comes almost to the top of my helmet so it should be just right for you. Considering it is the tallest size they offer, that's the only choice you have since you're so tall (if you want the most coverage). I wish I had gotten the 9", and I probably will soon. I'm even thinking about the 5". The 12" is worst in the rain. It keeps more rain off of me, but it's difficult to see through in a heavy rain. I love the Batwing though. Buffeting really isn't bad, and when I make a set of lowers for the forks I think that will be solved. Good luck with your decision. Ride safe!

Re: Batwing Fairing for my classic

Put a tape measure at the 12 o'clock position of your speedometer bezel and measure straight up. A 9" shield will come up around 16". A 12" shield will be another 2.5-3" taller. The shields don't sit perfectly vertical.

I am 6' and went with the 9" shield. Also added some home made lowers and no head buffeting. Love the batwing fairing. Had a MS speed demon windshield and it wasn't enough coverage.

I ordered the 9" spoiler, because it looked so cool. I'm 6'3" and it was to short!! Like not having a windshield. Got the 12" and it's perfect. Better than the LT OEM windshield I.M.O. Pics of both.

Thanks for the pictures, that's perfect since we're about the same height. Im sure with the lowers and the wind deflectors it's a nice ride. I'm putting together the same setup.
