Not that I completely minded where things went on this...
But to your question - the first thing I noticed was the non-US license plate. So, based on my own experience, I was thinking that the whole set up was a European product (the gray 'platform' is definitely a mounting plate for a hard case of some sort -- perhaps Givi, or CooCase (sp?) or some similar product). Givi and others make 'universal' plates that can mount to any flat luggage rack sturdy enough to support the weight of the case. As for the brackets themselves, I'll defer to whiting on that, but I can tell you that many of the companies (e.g. Cobra, or National Cycle) sell their racks in three pieces, so that you can buy just the side plates and luggage rack without the passenger backrest and then it'd be up to you to get the unviersal mounting plate and case from another company. I'd thought about doing this, but ran out of money after purchase of my side cases :-)
