Valve clearance

I'm getting ready to do a valve clearance inspection. Does anyone know what I clean the valve gasket off with when I am assembling the head. Someone told me to use contac cleaner or rubbing alc.

If it is what I think it is the gasket should be a molded type and is reusable. I have found that by spraying them with "cleaners" they often swell and then give you issues
