gas cap leaking

Is it common for a gas cap to leak? I may have overfilled it the other day, but I wanted to see what other people have experienced. Thank you.

You would have to fill way up and no it should not leak from splashing around.
Do you still have the rubber gasket on the cap??

Garage
I have only had mine leak/seep once. I had over filled it. Drove for a couple of miles, snicking through the gears, solved it self.

I probably overfilled. The rubber gasket is there, but it may be cracked up some. It is a keyed gas cap, so not sure if there is a replacement seal.
