Throttle cables

I've got throttle cables with a rubber casing. The inside part of the cable is untouched, but the outer rubber casing is partially scratched up after getting laid down. Wondering if using electrical tape to cover up the partial scratches is a good idea at all?
Trying to avoid a total cable replacement if I can.

As long as the line isn't crushed, pinched, dented, or otherwise damaged, then sure! Electrical tape will peel off in time, but can always be reapplied if you're so inclined.
