some have forward controls, how 'bout forward boards?

I knew Id never be putting on a crashbar, so no highway pegs there.
the only highway bars ive seen for the 900 are IMO "way" to high.
I ride with my feet way forward on the boards *all* the time and had to relocate my feet just to shift or brake.
then i seen grumpy's forward controls. that gave me an idea.
i ended up going 2" forward and raising the front 3/4".
it is SO much more comfortable, its unreal. heck, i might even go further.

this is the plate

and heres a couple shots installed. ya, i forgot to get before shots so its hard to compare. oh well.

That looks very comfortable. I like how you raised the front as well. Very good job. You going to mass produce and sell them?

No, I dont believe i will be. my wife thought i should. but i didnt want to horn in on grumpywirths line of extenders. besides, im not sure how grumpy dealt with the front original mount bolt, but I had to alter my board mounts to allow clearance for that bolt. most people probably wont want to do that, or even have the means to.

Its kinda hard to explain, but I will try. On the new extension piece, for the original front mount bolt he has it drill through for a bolt to go in. But also has it partially drilled with a bigger drill so a special bolt head will be counter sunk. The special bolt head is a hex head, but it is only about 1\8" thick and has a slit down the middle of it to use a standard screwdriver to tightnen it fully after the socket won't fit anymore. Also on the bottom part of the hex head it is shaped like a cone so it fits in the countersunk hole perfectly. It doesn't have to be super tight because your mount is going to be right on top of it, and no way to get out.

I hope I describe it good enough you undersatand and I wish I would have snapped pictures when mine was off.

thats kinda what i thought. because i saw a couple pics of some mounted, and you just could NOT see that bolt, lol i figured it was a thinner head bolt, but didnt know how he got a wrench on it after so far. the slot explains that part, lol for me, knowing it was just a one time deal, i just cut a half circle in my original mount to clear that bolt.

I had found this thread a few months ago when I started looking in to Vulcan mods. Now that I have my Vulcan (as of last week) I had lost it! Little did I know it was in my damn book marks all along. Thanks for the post. It's exactly what I want to accomplish.

I know if you were to make a "kit" with mounts and directions with shopping list for bolts etc id sure be in for one!!!! im not very tall 5'8 but I sure wish my boards were about 2" more forward. I try to cram the back of my boots sideways under my shift rob and brake to try to stretch my legs... very uncomfortable! I really like what you did great job!!

with the shifter and brake did you need to move any of that too to adjust with the 2" forward?
