Cool alarm system for classic lt

I am looking for some input on a good alarm system for my 2009 LT. Just got it today. My wife and I plan on taking overnight trips and would not sleep well at motels without without one. Thanks for any help. I am also looking for a better passenger seat for her. I put about 60 miles on the way home and could probably live with it but she rode 15 and between backrest vibration and bad seat she was not a happy camper. If momma aint happy no one is happy. Thanks again.

I have a Scorpian with perimeter protection and engine kill that I purchased for another bike and never installed it. I need to get the proper harness for the 900. The company is vauge about which one it needs. Does anyone know if the 08 and 09 use the same wiring???

Actually it's Scorpio
Here it is:
http://www.scorpioalarms.com/product.../sr-i300_trs4/
I purchased the Perimiter detection, Ignition Disable and Factory Plug in. It comes to 212.95. The website lists the same Plug for all the 900s. I sent them an e-mail and responded almost immediatly. I asked if the 09 was included in the listing for "all". They told me at the time (a month ago) that if I took pictures of where all the turn signal wires come together they could tell me for sure. Their quick response and willingness to help says alot.

Thanks for the info. The scorpio has some nice features. I especially like the two way remotes. I want to do a little more research ( Listen to a few, check out perimiter ranges and such.) Thanks for the help.

I recommend Meta System alarm (legos 3 or def3.com). Its very good device. Ihave the same (Legos 3) in my VN900 custom 08'. Meta System Legos3 and Meta System Def3.com it's the same device. Legos 3 have a separate siren, and Def3.com it's a compact device (siren and unit is a one box). Meta System is a factory device in Suzuki, MotoGuzzi, KTM, Derbi, Aprilla.

Hey.
Question about the Scorpio alarms from a Vulcan 500 owner: obviously there are several models (300, 500, 900 and I think a 1600 Scorpio alarm)
- Did they cause any problem with your batteries? Draining them sooner than expected or demanding more power than expected?
- Has anyone used a Scorpio perimeter detection module and put a cover over the bike (rain, dust, just forgot about the alarm in the first place)and experienced any problems with the alarm going off prematurely, staying on longer, or not going on at all?
Thanks, FTL

I travel a bit with my bike and I use a disc lock.

I thought about an alarm but friends have had problems with theirs when it gets windy outside.

You can get disc locks with an alarm function on them but they are just screamers.

It is easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask for permission

Crooksie,
very true, and I have a disk lock, sans alarm, as well. But I like the idea of the antihijack feature where you can kill the ignition within a certain range, or where the alarm going off will kill the ignition to start with.
And, yeah, I know, the more stuff you add onto the bike, the heavier it is and the more you have to remember to do and undo just to ride. (smile) But for long multiday hauls it would give me peace of mind.
