Audio Problem Solved

I have been looking for an affordable sound solution to the Shark 250 watt system. I had one and it sounded, well, lets just say not very good.

I looked around and just could not find anything with the adaptability of the Shark. I started thinking, the speakers might just suck. So I cracked one open and found a cheap 10 watt speaker.

I ordered a set of Polk Audio handlebar speakers from Motorcycle Tunes (http://www.motorcycletunes.com/speaker-systems.asp). These are rated at 75 Watts RMS. I replaced my 250 watt radio with the Shark 650 Watt system that puts out 75 watts RMS. Now, I have good sound at highway volume. I can actually listen to music at 70 mph, and it sounds decent.

This unit is neat. It has FM radio, reads music from an SD card, data stick, or mp3/ipod input. I also enjoy the equalizer function that lets you adjust sound to your musical tastes. I mounted everything on the handlebars. I used a standard Kuryakyn mount for the radio.

I do notice a slight lag on some SD card mp3s. This might be my recording though. Here are a few pics, and a link to a few bad video clips.

Thanks for the post and pics. Was leery of the cheaper units for inferior volume and sound quality. How many bones do you have in the whole setup?

Very cool! Been looking for an audio solution for mine.

Got a link to that head unit setup? It looked cool. Can you operate those buttons with gloves on? I always wear gloves when I ride so I've been looking for something I can actually use without having to stop and pull a glove off.

Here is a link. Yes, I can use the buttons with my gloves on. I don't use the wired remote. My wireless remote from my last unit works just fine. I use it to change equalizer settings. Thre are no real instructions to speak of. My 250 watt unit had a power b utton on the back. On this model, holding the "Mode" button shuts it on and off.

Too many The radio ran me around $72.00, I think the price has gone up to $78.00.

The Polk Audio speakers were $180, but the JVCs are $140.00. I had to install a couple RCA adapters on the speaker wire ($12.00) from critchfield. I had the mount aready. I am not sure what one runs just now.
