How restricted are stock 900`s?

Looking to get a Special Edition this week, used, thats stock.

Ive been in the dualsport world and off road where the bikes come very restricted to pass EPA emissions tests. Which means they need to be opened/uncorked,need to; increase air, fuel, exhaust flow.

If these are done to the ES what are the before and after results.

Any help is appreciated.

If this should be in another forum please let me know!

To bring the Vulcan 900 Custom SE to life you will need to install three things. A good quality open exhaust system from a company like Cobra, a free flow intake system like BAK or similar, a fuel processor like the Power Commander V or Cobra processor. According to Road Bike magazine, when they did these mods there was a 25% increase in hp showing on their chassis dyno.

Don't know about 25% HP increase but for sure 24.99%
But yes, those three things will increase the performance of the 900. And if you add both SW pulleys you'll love highway riding even better.

Before you buy anything ride it for a while, you might be perfectly happy with it stock. Even though the engine's only a 900 the bike's not a dog because they're fairly light.

Well, 613 lbs compared to your CBR at 466 lbs is significant.

That's true, that thing's scary fast, but I was surprised at how quick the 900 is. I figured it would be a slug but it's not too shabby.

When a bike is restricted I always get this feeling it needs to breathe and be set free.

Like I owe it to her in some way.

When I changed out my stock pipes on my 900 I did see an increase of HP. I did not add a fuel proc just the pipes.

JB My 09 classic backfired and made a lot of what sounded like valve train noise. I found out on this forum the read valves injecting air into the head for the air injection "helps the cats burn unburned fuel" were my noise. I got a large Allen bolt and plugged the single hose at the top of the air cleaner. The engine now sounds tight like it should. No side effects.

I only make this suggestion if you have similar problems, if not leave well enough alone.
