900 custom with 230 tire? Clear UP FOR ME {PLEASE

I have a 2008 900 custom and am wanting to put a 230 60 15 avon on the rear. Is this possible for sure and what exactly needs to be modified? Can I still lower it and have no clearance problems..? Please help with this as I never can get a clear answer from the forums.. Thanks

read this http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/fo...00-custom.html many people have done it but keep in mind the 900 custom rear wheel is to narrow for the tire to be safe, thats why most dealers wont even put it on.

heres a former thread .. https://www.vulcanforums.com/forums/s...t=14041&page=2

Post 18 has a good picture link, you could PM some of these guys to get there thoughts.

I have no opinion as i have never run a 230, both my bikes have a 200 rear, 1 a metz, the other a pirelli.

As i flipped into 5th, i couldnt remember a damn thing she said

230 wont fit on a classic for some reason not sure at the time of this post.

I have a 230 on my 900C and I love the look of the fat tire. I don't find much difference about it other than the bit of extra effort to lean you will get comfortable with it and should not have too many issues.

To each there own, ride safe and sensible is the real truth here.

I believe mine is a 210 Metzeler Me880 XXL with a really wide custom Britt fender; sometimes the tires hit the fenders when over potholes w/o extended clearance between fender/tire. Unwise to even use wide tires w stock fenders.

I've had a 230 on mine for 5000 miles with no problems. 2 inches lowered, never bottomed out, never rubbed on the fender.
