Another exhaust mod ?

I found this on another site:

The answer is yes, no, maybe.

You will experience some power loss by removing the baffles but have an increase in noise. The pipes will no longer be tuned but will flow more air so you will still need to compensate for this by increasing the fuel to the engine. If you increase the fuel then there shouldn't be any problems for the engine. The best way to increase the fuel would be with a product like the Power Commander from Dynojet. Here is a link to one for your bike.

If you remove all of the guts and have straight pipes, the loss of back pressure can cause the exhaust valves to overheat even with the increase in fuel. So the answer is to do mild modifications to the exhaust and compensate with more fuel. For an increase in power, you will need to go with a tuned exhaust and an increase in fuel."

Just wondering if anyone has an thoughts on this statement.

I don't know...lots of bikes, cars, etc have straight pipes and don't have an issue if they're tuned correctly.

You will actually loose some power from straight pipes due to the loss of back pressure but not enough that you would ever feel. The only way to see it is on a dyno.
That is why 90% of the drag cars and bikes have a type of muffler on them. The ones that do not, run headers or pipes that every tube is equal length and size.
There has been dyno tests on bikes with straight pipes and just by adding a 1/4 in bolt with a 1/4 washer welded on top of it going into the pipe will give it enough back pressure to gain horsepower.
