Wide or Narrow Whitewalls?

So my front factory with 15k miles is ready to be replaced. And I figure I will do the rear even though it only has 4-5k on it. But it is off brand (IRC). I want to do whitewalls but can't decide if I want the wide all the way around or if doing the narrow in front would look better. I haven't seen any pics on bike. Just the ones in the adds. And I have seen plenty of wide on bikes. Just looking for some input.

narrow white wall look's good on certain bikes , but it's too bad it doesn't come for all sizes ?? not for the custom . but if you want to replace the rear go for the 200 no modefication required , looks great

i am talking about metzeler

Can't help with the narrow WWs, but here's what the wide ones look like:


They're Metzelers (just about all you'll find in wide WWs). 200 is not an option, but don't worry. This is a 170/80 and here's a rear view:
I worried about it looking skinny, but I was pleasantly surprised. Besides, it's still wider than what HD or Indian cruisers & tourers come with stock.

My biggest fear is when I die, my wife will sell all my guitars for what I told her I paid for them.

I know what opinions are like, but since I'm a "rowdy biker" here's mine. If you are willing to clean WWs, then go wide. I've seen the narrow ones on some bikes (especially HD & Honda tourers) and they just don't do much for me. With the classic Indian-like curves of our bike, the wide WWs will just set it off beautifully. Our bike really does give you that old style look with all the nice high-tech features of today like fuel injection and water cooling.

Now, with my opinion stated, she is still your bike. That is one of the things I love about most bikers I have met. We may not choose to turn our bike into a chopper, bobber, ape hanger, what-ever. But if that is the style and function level you want for your bike, then great. What we really like to see is a job well done. Regardless of the style, as long as it is done well and looks right, then ride on baby.

Well I just got back from the Minneapolis bike show, and got to see the 900 Classic SE in person and the WW look great. They are using Bridgestone not Dunlop.

As far as cleaning them. The Indian uses Metzelers, the white wall is nice and smooth. The Yahama something can't remember which bike, anyhow had Avon. The white wall is knurled. Seems like it would be really hard to clean. The Bridgestone was smooth, like the Metzelers. What I liked looks wise is that it was raised alot off the black. Not sure what kinda quality the Bridgestone is though.

BTW fysl, Metzeler doesn't make a 200 whitewall, narrow or wide. I just looked at their site. You got me all exicited. I would totally go up to a 200.

I really like the look of the white walls. I still kick myself thinking I should have gotten the WWW in 170 because but I knew Metzelers didn't make a 180 in the rear and didn't want to drop a size. So I bought the stock size black MME's.

Well I found that Bridgestone makes the G702 in a 180 size with whitewalls. Nice looking tread too. And the front that they have is the G705 or the G703. Motorcycle-superstore.com seems to have really good prices on them. I see a lot of reviews saying that they get alot of mileage out of them. Not sure how the ride quality or traction is. And what the difference between the 703 and 705 fronts are. Other then Bridgestone says that the 703 are tube type tires, and the 705 are tubeless. I thought you could run a tube in any tire.

Neither one looks like the ones that Kawi is putting on the new Classic SE. I think those are 721/722 cuz thats whats on the 1700.

Bridgestones website kinda sucks. Not very easy to navigate.

Anybody have opinions on the Bridgestone tires?
