My experience is with the Cobra Light Bar, wired to the High Beams.
I have not had any battery issues. Have blown the fuse twice. Once due to my hand washing of the bike, and moving the un-protected switch on the Cobra in contact with the ground. Second time, was recently. Coming home thru the woods in NH, switching back and forth frequently between high and low beams. Not fun driving by the light of the blinkers....
That said, during the day, I can readily tell if I have the highs on, or not, by the way vehicles "treat" me. IMHO, a Lite Bar should be the first addition to every bike.
However, people using cell phones are still our biggest "enemy". No matter what, some people just can't multi-task.
Three of us, riding stagger, front two with lite bars on. Front guy has already lost his leg to a MC crash. Approaching an intersection with lights, only road is on our left, we had a long green. Just as we get there, women on phone, that had been in our view and stopped for awhile, took a left on the Red. Topping it off, she had a kid in a car seat.
Just my thoughts, but I gotta believe the technology is there to stop a moving phone from texting, and to limit the duration of conversations/not allow switching of a conversation to a new "cell".
