cobra lightbar

Probably been answered somewhere in the forum but I can't find it. Here's the deal: I'm looking at the Cobra Lightbar for the Kawasaki 900 Classic with factory windshield. There is a disclaimer that states may not fit with some windshields. My question: Anyone have this system on their Vulcan 900 Classic with factory windshield? If so did it fit ok, without major modification? Cobra lists two different part numbers, one for the custom and one for the classic at www.denniskirk.com . Any input would be greatly appreciated. Oh, did I fail to mention that the 9 is a GREAT bike!

I have an '08 900 LT, and I put the Cobra lightbar on, with no issues. Even got the OEM lowers, and they fit too, with no problems.

thanks

Thanks for the input and pic...looks good. Does the lightbar have it's own switch? I undertand there is an accessory plug in the headlight bucket you can use for a power source. I would like to have these powered on all the time, not with just the low or high beam. On and Off would be controlled soley by the lightbar switch. How did you wire these up?

Yes, the lightbar does have its own switch, on the right hand side. To me, it is not convenient. Yes, there is an aux power connection in the headlight bucket.

I wired mine thru a relay to run with the headlight. When the headlight is on, both high and low, the lightbar is on. I don't remember how I did it, I followed someone else's wiring diagram. It could be on Gadget's page, I don't remember, sorry. If you want yours to run all the time, tho, you won't want to use the setup I did.

lightbar

Being the cheapskate I am I went with the Wally World driving lights for a whole $20. I put the relay in the bucket hooked up to the dims which is probably the only legal way to do it. However when I switch to brights I notice a dimmer light without the extra 50 watts x 2 with the driving lights. I put the bright bulb from Wagner in too. What wire would I hook the relay up to instead of the dim wire if I want them on fulltime? I don't want to have a switch to power them up. I didn't know there was a headlamp wire for dims and brights in the bucket I could hook up to?

I followed this diagram.....

http://www.gadgetjq.com/wiredrivinglights.htm

and used info from this page....

http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/fo...-you-do-4.html

I didn't look, but if you are riding a 900, the wire you want to tap off is under the gas tank, and is blue with yellow tracer.

Or try this....

cobra lightbar

The cobra lightbar went on fine on my 09 classic LT. Wiring was easy and only took 45 minutes. Gives plenty more light especially on sides of back roads at night (critter location). Bought the Cobra visors also for the main headlight and the light bar. They finish the look.

I have the Cobra light bar on an 2009 900LT. I like the features, design and cost compared to other lightbars. Went on OK but had a little problem with the wiring so ended up putting it on a relay in the headlight. Probably not legal in all states but hooked relay up to running light wire so lightbar is on any time switch is on. Lightbar is hooked to accessory cuircit for power.

A few comments on the Cobra lightbar that may be a little picky:

- Lightbar only comes with 25 watt bulbs(I replaced with 35 watt bulbs, most autostore bulbs are 55 watt and I was afraid to go that high amps).
- Wiring on lightbar is not very large gage to handle more amps.
- Chrome on lightbar light housing is not the best but general design is very good.
- Be aware accessory wire in headlight housing is hot all the time even when bike switch is off forcing you to manually turn lightbar on/off if this circuit is used without a relay.
- Instructions say to wire lightbar into headlight circuit but in my opinion that is getting very close to the 10 amp fuse limit on that circuit possibly causing you to loose all lights suddenly if it blows.
