How much money have you sunk into your ride

Just cleaning my bike ( 09 classic LT) and i was thinking ... how much have i sunk into this sucker, naturally you may have to use the conversion rate, you know, what you told the wife and what it really cost. BTW .. these are cdn $$$$$ for the bike, US $$$ for accessories

Bike $9200
trailer 699
paint tlr 700
hitch 325
wiring 100
tri lights 325
light visors 100
mustang seat 425
tank bib 100

Thats $14,646

tHESE PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE TAXES OR FREIGHT... for the bike thats another $1380

I was kinda shocked when i added these up as they were bought over the last 12 months and some of the prices are my best guess as i dont remember the exact $$$$

Total for a $9200 bike ....$16,326........ OUCH

$$$$$$ for smile per mile ...........

Add in riding gear for 2 people for 2 bikes ... $1500

All done for our own enjoyment ... PRICELESS

As i flipped into 5th, i couldnt remember a damn thing she said

Not much more than purchase

Lets see I bought a NEW 09 classic LT with all prep and taxes for 10129 CND all up. Had to spend I think close to 900 or 1000 insurance for the year. I live in Canada with Socialism you see. I put a custom built seat totaly built at a local shop for I think 525 after tax so I guess I am into it for 11.6 to 12.5 CND.For 1 year This includes insurance that I dont think others are counting.

Let's see...

$6300 for the bike. (09LT)
$189 for the tax.
$200 for me to drive 900 miles to get it... (local dealer wouldn't come CLOSE to a "price match!" )
$200 for rear floorboards.
$30 for a vanity plate.
$30 for a cheesy throttle lock.

Is.... $6949. So far.

Projected FY11 Mods:

Seat - $375
Exhaust - $150 (for backup pipes/drill extension/bi-metal bits etc... for a debaffle)
Lights - 'Bout $200

I'll probably keep the total under 8K. I might pop for a Fuel Integrator and self-mod the air box - MAYBE a ScootWorks pulley/cog - but I didn't buy this bike to trick out....

I'll probably keep it mostly stock and just ride it.

I'm not saying. Anything you say can and will be used against you in divorce court

I upgraded the all of electronics on my boat last year and the wife found the catalog You can't really hide new bigger color screens. Never leave receipts or catalogs laying around the house.

I figure you could buy a bike for whatever-$12K to 15K, and have a pretty nice ride. Or you could buy a $7K bike (as I did) and use it as a platform and accessorize it just the way you want it. For instance, in my case I wanted saddlebags, a backrest and a fairing for long rides. But I wanted it all quick release because I do most of my riding around town and I really don't like windshields & such. I got a MS batwing, a Corbin seat (w/removeable backrest) and bags w/ghost brackets. I can make it a tourer in about 10 minutes and back to a cruiser in about 3. If I had bought an LT or similar tourer I wouldn't be able to convert to a cruiser at all.

My total? I'd guess around $2500 in accessories. I haven't done any performance mods. Yet.

Oh, and I keep my clandestine buys to music equipment. The missus has been involved in every purchase for the Vulc.

My biggest fear is when I die, my wife will sell all my guitars for what I told her I paid for them.
