Vaquero passenger backrest and brackets

Just picked up a 2012 vaquero. Looking for a used or cheaper new passenger backrest. And maybe passenger floorboards. I'm in central Illinois.

Just keep in mind that the brackets use a key and are keyed to the bike. I'm curious if you find a solution to this.

Was completely unaware of that. How does that work when you buy one from a dealer? Or private seller? 😓

You order it with the key code for your bike and it comes keyed for your bike.

Ah, the little metal tag that comes with the bike. Makes sense. So if I were to buy a used one, and they had the key code? Which might be difficult but doable

I don't believe it can be re-keyed. You'll either need a copy of the key from the original owner of the bracket (And use two keys); or you'll need to get used brackets but buy a new backrest (or vice versa; I can't remember which has the key)

Wild. As far as I'm aware, there is only one KQR backrest; what brackets did they send you? Did you drill the holes in the trim?

I have not drilled the holes yet. The brackets weren't correct, but they did replace them. Going to drill the holes today. The first brackets did not fit the backrest itself either.
