Bourbon, anyone?

Nice afternoon to enjoy a healthy pour of Blanton's at the golf course.

(Dunno why it puts the picture rotated, it's fine in the photo gallery)

Love me some good bourbon, which is a good thing, as there is a large selection to choose from these days. A good time to be a whiskey drinker. Lately I've been enjoying the High West Double Rye, mmmm mmmm good.

Gone are the days we stop to decide where we should go, we just ride.

I do have an iPhone SE (for work) but in this case it was my personal Galaxy S9.

Fixed it from the PC at home.

I've managed to amass a small collection. Nothing real high end but all good quality, IMO, of course.

No particular order -

Four Roses Single Barrel
Eagle Rare (barrel select)
Stagg Jr.
Russel's Reserve single barrel
Maker's Mark Private Reserve (barrel select)
Marker's Mark 46
Knob Creek 120 single barrel reserve (barrel select)
Colonel EH Taylor small batch
Smooth Ambler Old Scout (technically not a bourbon)
I.W. Harper 15yr
Kirkland Signature Small Batch (yes, Costco)

While on a business trip to Texas a month or so back tried a couple Texas bourbons. I thought they were quite nice. Didn't have a chance to get any for take home and apparently not distributed in MN.

Others tasted I thought were pretty good too,. The Blanton's, of course; Elmer T. Lee, and William Larue Weller. Had a chance to try some of the Pappy 15 and 20, but price of entry for just one pour was pretty high. Maybe one of these days I'll go for it.

I've heard good things about the High West brand but have yet to try any.

I've had a good many of those, but have never been able to keep a bottle around long enough to get anywhere near a collection.

It's a lot easier for the collection, but harder on the wallet (short term, anyway), when you buy several of them at a crack.

Where I live the selection isnt good so when I get some place with selections besides Jack, Jim, and Johnny, I tend to go a little overboard on the purchases.

Picked up a bottle of High West Double Rye. It's pretty good, but different than the others for sure. Drier, more spicy, for lack of better terms. That would be the high bill of rye, as I understand it.
