Vancouver Riders Beware

Even with an event as big as the Olympics going on, Johnny Law found the time to follow me for 3 blocks and then give me a ticket for my bike being too loud.

I have HardKrome Strippers on my VN900 Custom. Anyways, I can admit that they are probably too loud for downtown Vancouver (they sure echo off the buildings) but it was 11 AM, not 2 in the morning waking up the neighbours. Anyways...he was on a Harley and said they are really clamping down and going to be hammering anyone with aftermarket exhaust that they deem TOO loud.

He did not have his decible meter with him but still gave me a ticket, although it has no points associated with and no order to repair. He said if he had his meter I would have gotten 3 points against my insurance rating and an order to appear with a new exhaust that meets the requirements.

I won't be going downtown any time soon for sure. Never had a problem in East Van or BBY yet.

Well, I guess I'll pipe-up and take one for the team. Bring 'er back to Barrie and I'll trade my OEM pipes for the strippers... Kidding aside, sorry 'bout your luck.

Baffle it first then take that one to the judge. Then ask the cop if he was testing for SPL or SIL or SWL or HL or Q or A or B or C..... and if he's so good at that, mayby he can tell you your tire pressures by looking at the tires.......

I'd fight that ticket like Jack Dempsey... Not a chance he can stick you with that without hard evidence.

Exclamation

CDNVulcanGuy:

Lets do this Yankee style. Tell the court that even if you had stock pipes, the echo from the tall buildings would still have amplified the sound. So in no way way this your fault or your bikes fault. It was the fault of the building owners who built a building that didn't use sound absorbing material for its construction.
Now for a little "Boston Legal" brain storming here. Since no points were given because said law officer didn't have a meter, yet did give you a ticket. It would be fair to say that did Law Officer was trying to pick you up. I'd be creaming sexual harassment as loud as I could. That would rock his boat.
Yes I know that's playing dirty. It's just that I can't stand to see injustices like this.
