Front or Rear

My front tire is weather cracked and is getting low on tread anyway but I'm running low on cash right now (the Wife wont stop shopping). This being said I have a tire that's never seen the road I got with a bunch of bike parts I scored in a deal I made with a guy last year. The thing is the tire doesn't say if its for the front or back on it but its the right size. Does anyone know how I can tell or if it matters if I mount it on front, I cant seem to find one like it on line any were?

It DOES matter if you mount it on the front. While you CAN mount a rear tire on the front, the tread pattern is different. You'll need to mount the tire on 'backwards'.

We need more info though. What is the model of the tire? A Dunlop D404? Metzeler 880? etc.? etc.? Maybe from there we can help you determine if it's front or rear. What's the tire size? Will it even fit?

Also, what you ride would be helpful too!!
